Portfolio Update//Summer Highlights 2012//
After photographing Big Dance 2010 (and the pre-runner to Big Dance, DanceMob at the Southbank Centre) I was invited to cover a selection of events for Big Dance 2012. Big dance itself ran between 7th-15th July where people all over the country celebrated dance in its various guises. You can find out more about Big Dance here
The countdown to the penultimate event Big Dance Trafalgar Square started on the 18th May with the Schools Pledge, with a Guinness World Record attempt to perform the ‘largest simultaneous dance’ with school children worldwide. Although sadly, the world record wasn’t broken (it is currently held by the Netherlands) it has been recorded that 22 different countries participated in performing the five minute piece, choreographed by Wayne McGregor.
Excited Children waiting for the 1pm start of the performance in front of the International press.
A cacophony of colour as the children perform the choreography
Wayne McGregor being interviewed by International Press shortly after the choreography was performed.
